For the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, TeamMinus studio designed a ski jump for big air competitions – acrobatic jumps on skis and snowboards. The facility was built on the site of the former Shougan Industrial Park, which was the largest steel plant in the region.
The springboard occupies a strip of land between the former lake and the Yongdinghe River. The 60-meter steel structure consists of three sections: a long slope, a flatter central part where the take-off ramp is located, and finally a sloping landing area. Athletes go upstairs on the elevator, which is located in the support column. At the base of the springboard, concrete stands were built, designed for 2,500 spectators. For the Olympics, capacity has been increased with additional steel stands.
The ski jump became part of a large project for the renovation of the park. The oxygen plant building will house the entrance for Olympic spectators, and the Beijing 2022 organizing committee moved its headquarters to converted iron ore storage towers in 2017. As part of the wider development of the industrial facility, it is planned to build office buildings, a convention center, and a water park and museum. src=”/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/cd38e39596eb9014877c0dd4dcf334f6.jpg” width=”728″ height=”317″ class=”lazy-image__image _align-center” data-v-0571743d=”1″ alt=” Photo #5 – 2022 Olympics: big air ski jump built in Beijing” />
