Salto Architects is one of the leading architectural companies in Estonia. It is led by architects Ralf Lõoke and Maarja Kask. The company's portfolio includes well-known projects, including the Madre theater made of straw and the EMÜ curved sports hall. Recently, a new building was opened in Tallinn, designed by the studio together with Stuudio Tallinn & nbsp; – a marina for cruise liners. It was conceived as a public space accessible to citizens at any time of the year, and not just during the navigation season.
The main feature of the new station is its roof. The building rises in steps, so it is easy to get to the roof from ground level. There, the authors of the project arranged a walking area 850 meters long, rows of seats that form an amphitheater and a children's playground. In the cold season, according to the architects, all activities will move to the waiting rooms. There will be exhibitions, fairs and concerts. So far, the residents of Tallinn are waiting for the approach of spring to try out the public areas of the maritime station in the open air.
