Competition of architectural drawing “ArchiGraphics” 2020

“ArchiGraphics” invites architects and artists who paint architecture to participate. The organizer of the annual competition, which is being held for the seventh time, is the team, the project is supported by the Sergei Tchoban Foundation – the Museum of Architectural Drawing, the chief architect of Moscow Sergei Kuznetsov, the Union of Architects of Russia and the Union of Moscow Architects. Curator – Ekaterina Shalina. The main goal of the competition is to support and popularize freehand drawing as a valuable professional skill.

Participants can submit one work in each of the four nominations: “Drawing from Life”, “Architectural Fantasy”, “Drawing for a Project” and “Drawing Modern Architecture”. The last nomination is the premiere of this year, it was curated by the chairman of the jury of the competition Sergey Choban.

“Most often, as the ArchiGraphics competition shows, we do not paint what we design,” he says. – And we design in a different language than we draw. It is interesting to understand: is it rather uncertainty, unwillingness to look for new means to paint new architecture, or is modern architecture a phenomenon that needs other means of representation, for example, digital? The new special nomination of the ArchiGraphics competition is intended to inspire architects and artists depicting architecture, to pay attention to the buildings of the XX-XXI centuries and to convey their observations and impressions of them in various forms of hand-drawn graphics. ” • Deadline for submission of works – until March 2, 2020.
