SINGAPORE – The global chip shortage, which has become more pronounced in recent months, is expected to last until next year.

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic made manufacturers more conservative in their projections and orders. As a result, stronger-than-expected recovery in the second half of last year caught them unprepared.
