Behles & Jochimsen Architekten have created a modern office building that blends in perfectly with Nuremberg's historic neighborhood
April 20, 2022
In the Old Town of Nuremberg, between the main market square and the medieval church of St. Sebald, an expressive modern-style office building has appeared. It is enclosed between two buildings in a pseudo-historical style (after the Second World War, many squares of the city were restored to their former appearance). Its authors are the architectural bureau Behles & Jochimsen Architekten – tried to match the context as much as possible. Even the proportions and materials are chosen so as not to stand out too much against the background of historical buildings, and the facade of the extension is on the same line as the surrounding buildings.
The headquarters of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry is located in the new building. The facade is made of sandstone of different colors, which is traditionally used for building buildings in this area of Germany. The facade of the building is designed to match the historical context as much as possible.
The new building houses the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nuremberg, which was called the “House of Trade”. The headquarters has a spacious atrium that was once a courtyard. It now functions as a reception and customer service point, as well as a flexible space for exhibitions and events. In the interior of office spaces used a large amount of wood and concrete. Spacious and bright spaces create the most comfortable environment for the employees of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. /uploads/2022/04/93af71ce87109b860bbbacf32e36709c.jpg” width=”728″ height=”1092″ class=”lazy-image__image _align-center” data-v-64ca9b5a=”1″ alt=”Modern office on Nuremberg's historic square” />The former courtyard has become a multifunctional atrium. =”728″ height=”485″ class=”lazy-image__image _align-center” data-v-64ca9b5a=”1″ alt=”Modern office on Nuremberg's historic square” />Inside the building are offices. The walls of the office space are finished with oak panels for additional sound insulation.
