Seoul's new Apple Store is set to be the new hip urban space. It even provides recreation areas with green areas and unusual sculptures that will attract children from the street

A new Apple Store has opened in Seoul, designed by renowned design firm Foster + Partners. The store occupies the first and second floors of a 20-story business center that overlooks a busy street in one of the central districts of the South Korean capital. One of the main architectural features of the project was landscaped green areas arranged inside along the perimeter of the building. As conceived by the architects, the Apple store should become a new public space where people will come not only to shop, but just to spend time. “We wanted this Apple Store to be a haven of tranquility in the heart of Seoul's dynamic downtown,” say the architects.
Apple Store green areas attract attention not only with their bushes, lawns and trees, but also with bright art objects. Unusual sculptures reminiscent of children's toys and balls made of wooden saw cuts are the work of local artists Jaehyo Lee and Vakki, which children immediately fell in love with.
The interior of the new Apple Store itself looks quite traditional for the brand's stores – continuous glazing tends to blur the boundary between its outer and inner space, and a combination of metal and warm wood prevails inside.
